However, petroleum spills can still potentially pose a serious risk to human health and the environment and require remediation that could even extend beyond the boundaries of a facility. Clean Program - Loans For Contaminated Properties
The State of California has developed a loan program to investigate and cleanup contaminated or underutilized urban properties. In September 2000, Governor Gray Davis signed the Cleanup Loans and Environmental Assistance to Neighborhoods (CLEAN) Program, which provided $85 million to promote redevelopment of underutilized urban properties.
